Use these literary response sheets to teach and review genre, author’s point of view, and author’s purpose throughout the school year. Included are sheets for every story for Units 1-6 in Treasures (CA Edition). I usually pass out the literature response sheets on Fridays. We work on it whole class (pair share). After 5 or 8 stories of practice, the sheets become an independent assignment throughout the school year. The questions are text dependent which are part of common core standards. I have also included colored student sheets for referencing author’s point of view and author’s purpose.
UNIT 1- First Day Jitters, Amazing Grace, Earth Smart, Wolf!, My Very Own Room
UNIT 2- Boom Town, Home-Grown Butterflies, Coasting to California, Here's My Dollar, A Castle on Viola Street
UNIT 3- Author: A True Story, Dear Juno, Messaging Mania, What Do Illustrators Do?, The Jones Family Express
UNIT 4- Seven Spools of Thread, Nacho and Lolita, A Solution to Pollution, Ramona and her Father, Out of This World!
