This is an outline of the 2007 Macmillan McGraw-Hill second grade Treasures reading series for Unit 6. It is a great resource to give to parents at the beginning of each week to help them have an understanding of what is taking place during reading/language arts time and for them to study with their child. It is also a nice reference for you as the teacher in order to view the week at a glance.
It contains the following stories for Unit 6:
Mice and Beans
Stirring Up Memories
Music of the Stone Age
All stories list the unit theme, weekly theme, spelling words, spelling challenge words, vocabulary, sight words, short stories, comprehension skills, and grammar skills. I took all of the sight words from each unit and broke them up evenly between stories. Also, all of the challenge words follow the same phonics strategy for the week.
In addition, because Unit 6 is the last unit of the second grade series, I have included the first and second week's spelling list for third grade Treasures. We always have a week or two left of school when we finish the series, and I always give the students a "sneak peek" at their words for next year.
Please check out the other units as well.
