Word Hunts and Comprehension Check pages are a great
way to engage your students and help them interact more deeply with the decodable books from Macmillan McGraw-Hill’s Treasures (2011) Reading Program for first grade. These activities are great for use in the classroom as a workstation task or sent home with each decodable reader as a homework assignment.
After reading a decodable reader, students can use these sheets to "hunt" for and record words with a given sound/spelling. There is a word hunt page for each decodable reader, which states the name of the reader and the sound/spelling being focused on. Unit and week numbers are also included.
This resource includes:
• 30 Word Hunt Activities for EVERY decodable reader that will give you students the practice they need with identifying and reading words with specific sounds/spellings being studied
• 30 Comprehension Check Pages with two questions specifically for each story that you can use to assess your students' understanding of the text
IMPORTANT: These pages are intended for use as companion pages for first grade decodable readers from Macmillan McGraw-Hill’s Treasures (2011) Reading Program. The decodable readers are NOT included.
Additionally, a comprehension check page is included for each decodable with two questions per story.
Challenge your students to find all of the words!
