This project was created for a 9th grade Humanities course. It focuses on WWI Trench Warfare Poetry. The students must complete a series of tasks: complete a webquest researching the historical background of Trench Warfare, complete a poet biography, analyze a poem according to a provided annotation rubric and guidelines, find a second poem to analyze, and write a culminating paper answering one of the following two questions:
1. How do writers of poetry protect cultural values while at the same time expanding the readers’ world view?
2. How does poetry serve as an indicator of social conscience in times of political or social unrest?
*Disclaimer: The webquest was found online. Though I do not take any credit for the creation of the webquest, I did list the link to the webquest to access it if needed.
