I created this graphic organizer worksheet to help my students recognize some of the patterns in the Periodic Table of Elements.
This is part of my cost-saving, amazing Chemistry Bundle!
Year after year, it is one of my tried and true resources for helping students discover patterns in the Periodic Table. You'll see the light bulbs go off - I'm sure of it!
This graphic organizer worksheet
has the students draw the Bohr-Rutherford diagrams for Hydrogen, the Alkali Metals, Alkaline Earth Metals, Halogens and Noble Gases that fall within the first 20 elements. Students will practice drawing the atoms, then will examine the valence shells to determine the pattern of number of electrons in the valence shell and reactivity of those families. They will also extend this pattern to determine how many electrons other elements will have in their valence shells.

This zipped folder contains an editable PowerPoint file
, so you can alter it to suit your students' needs! If you like the graphic organizer as is, print from the pdf file. Solutions
are also included!
Use this graphic organizer as a lesson, homework, or group work - whatever works best for your class! It works very well with my How to Draw Bohr Rutherford Diagrams PowerPoint!
It is set-up to print on 11x17" (tabloid) paper, but as you can see in the pictures it also fits very nicely on regular 8.5x11" paper.
When printing from the pdf file click Fit
if you want to fit on 8.5x11" paper, or click Actual Size
if you want to print on 11x17" paper.
