This is a great student-centered activity that I have done with my women's studies students. It could easily be used in US history as well. Students are broken into groups and given a portion of a 1911 Newspaper article on the Triangle Shirtwaist Factory Fire. They are given the task of using the information in their segment of the reading to produce a modern-day National Newscast TV report/series of interviews on the tragedy. Students then perform their skits to the rest of the class, effectively sharing the entire content of the news article.
