Years ago, I came up with the idea of a different format for flash cards. Result - 13 pages of triangle flash cards that could be used to practice related facts. In my opinion neither multiplication nor division should not be taught in isolation but should be taught together at the same time.
I've used these cards with hundreds of students, teachers and parents AND everyone thinks that they are better than APPLE PIE!
During elementary (intermediate grades) summer school, we gave a set of these (The parent cut them apart!) to every family with a student in school. The directions to the parents - practice with your child 3-5 minutes a day. When they can do the entire set with fewer than 5 errors - send a note back to the teacher and at that time we will 'test' for fluency. This saved teachers valuable 'teaching time' and gave parents a way to help at home.
I've also included a couple of activities that can also be used in conjunction with these triangle flash cards.
• What's Missing - is a 3-page master with 12 problems on each page. Most students do not need to do that many problems for the teacher to have an idea if the student knows the material. So cut the pages into fourths. Four problems are sufficient! This will give you 12 different mini-tests that can be used all at the same time or one at a time.
• Fact Family Review - is a 1 page exercise. Students randomly select 4 different triangle flash cards and record all the related facts (multiplication and division) that go with that set of numbers.
If your students need addition/subtraction practice - look for TRIANGLE FLASH CARDS for addition/subtraction with activities.
Most of all ENJOY this resource. Thanks for visiting my store and come back and visit anytime! Mary Alice Hatchett
