Triangle Inequality Theorem Puzzles are practice for students learning how to apply the Triangle Inequality Theorem to identify if three side lengths form a triangle and to calculate the range of possible side lengths of a missing side in a triangle.

How It Works: Riddle
Students solve for the maximum or minimum side length of a missing side in each triangle. Students write the variable above its answer in the riddle. Filling in all the variables reveals the answer to the riddle.

How It Works: Sudoku
Students solve for the maximum or minimum side length of a missing side in each triangle. Students replace the variable in the sudoku with its answer. Once all of the variables have been replaced, students solve the sudoku following the general rules.

How It Works: Pathways

Students choose a path through a grid composed of triangles. Each path in the grid has a value equal to the side lengths of the triangles. Students solve for the maximum side lengths of the missing sides then find a path that will result in a sum of 100. There are two levels offered for this task.

How It Works: Mystery Picture
Students determine if each set of side lengths does or does not form a triangle. Students find all the squares with the problem number in the grid and color these squares black if the side lengths do form a triangle and red if the side lengths do not form a triangle. Coloring all the squares reveals a mystery picture.

All digital versions are editable so that you can customize to meet the needs of your students.
