Create your own triangle puzzle!
I wanted to use triangle puzzles (sometimes called "tarsia puzzles") in both my mathematics and French classes to increase engagement through the incorporation of some tactile resources. Unfortunately, I was not able to find a template that fit my needs... so I created my own!
This puzzle allows students to match 18 pairs of words/phrases/equations/etc that you select... and you can also include 12 distractors that don't have matches! (To make the puzzle quite a bit easier, simply leave the distractors blank.)
After downloading the file and opening it in Excel, you'll simply replace the two columns of matching terms and the column of distractors with your own data. Two puzzles will automatically be generated:
(1) a "completed" version of the puzzle that you may cut apart for students to use and that you may also refer to as the solution for the puzzle
(2) a "mixed up" version of the puzzle that you may hand out to students as-is if you wish for them to cut apart the pieces before solving
The puzzle is sized to print on an 8.5x11 piece of paper. Individual pieces are approximately 1.7 inches wide.
