This set of task cards provides all you need for a full hour of fun. The activity is designed to have students work in groups and OUT OF THEIR SEATS! It contains 24 question cards (includes type of triangles and angle sum measures questions) and 4 Bonus cards (Kaboom, lose a turn, steal a card, & bonus turn), a coordinating answer worksheet, and a solution key. My student are VERY competitive and LOVE playing with the Bonus cards as described below.
Option 1: Each team/group will work on one card and complete the appropriate section, then swap for a new one until all have been worked. Cards can be left 4 to a sheet or cut apart for this style of play.
Option 2: Cards must be cut apart as well as 1 or 2 sheets of the “Bonus” cards. All cards will be face down and when a student draws a card, he/she answers it. If all other players agree with the solution, the player keeps that card. If a Bonus card is drawn, the player follows the directions on that card. The player with the most cards at the end of the allotted time is the winner.
I have included two versions of the cards, one in grayscale, and the other in color. Either way, you will probably want to print a class set on cardstock and laminate them for future years.
Your students will be exposed to the all types of transformation problems at each station: translations, reflections, dilations, and rotations. They will be asked to define, solve and determine appropriate algebraic rules.
