This is a short, animated PowerPoint that I created for my 8th Grade US History Classes. I usually use it as part of my introduction to causes of the American Civil War, but obviously it can be used whenever you introduce or review the American Slave Trade.
The animation moves in steps, so you can pause and explain each element of the triangular trade in as much detail as is appropriate for the lesson. The slide show includes two other slides to give students a sense of the human cost of the slave trade.
Please preview the timing of the animations on your own before using the first slide in class, that way you are prepared for each step, and know the rhythm of the slideshow.
