As teachers, we can tell our students truths about polygons, but do they ever really believe us?
In this activity, students prove that the angles of any triangle will have a sum of 180 degrees and that the angles of any quadrilateral will have a sum of 360 degrees.
In the lower grades, you will need to complete this activity together and monitor the students' steps very closely. The upper grades should be able to complete this activity independently or with a partner, but will require the students to follow instructions very carefully.
Over the years, my students that completed this activity always remembered these angle rules more successfully than those classes that did not.
Included in this product are two instruction pages, one for triangles and another for quadrilaterals, and a student example of the completed quadrilateral angles project.
