Looking for a Halloween activity to improve rhythm skills? This game will work well for learning rhythm patterns, reinforcing, and assessing students' ability to perform and recognize 4-beat patterns.
A "trick-or-treater" walks around the circle with a bucket of Halloween Character pictures (included in file as PDF for printing). When the song ends, the trick-or-treater gives a picture to the student he stops behind. That student locates the matching picture on the screen (Smart Notebook file), and taps it. This will take the student to a page with 3 rhythm pattern choices. After choosing one to perform, the student picks a classmate to guess which pattern he/she clapped or played. The performer then becomes the new trick-or-treater. There are enough slides for 26 students to have turns. If you have more than 26 in your class simply recycle the pictures.
The Smart Notebook file also includes a recording of the accompaniment for the Trick-Or-Treat song.
