Trick or Treat! How many candies can I eat?
Want an engaging way to capitalize your students' excitement about Halloween and math? This activity is ideal for both the Technology Specialist as well as the classroom teacher!
This product was written for younger elementary students in mind. The activity includes counting pictures of different Halloween candies, tallying them, and converting their tally marks into numbers. Once they have recorded their findings, students will enter their data into a pre-formatted Excel spreadsheet which will generate a super cute pictograph! The lesson can be easily differentiated by having students work as individuals or in small groups and varying the number and type of candy cards distributed to students.
--tally sheet (two to a page)
--pre-formatted Excel spreadsheet
--five sheets of candy pictures (each sheet contain 15 pictures of Halloween candy)
Also included are literature suggestions and a YouTube link for a Halloween story to start the lesson and a link to several Halloween themed math and reading games for early finishers!
