This is a fun activity that will engage your students in problem solving, logical thinking, graphing, and using math operations. Depending on the abilities of your students, it may require scaffolding and modeling.
Students read sentences about a group of four trick-or-treaters and the different kinds of treats that each has collected. They then use this information to create a frequency table and a bar graph. Finally, they use the information in the bar graph for solving word problems.
This would make a great math center activity for more capable students.
