In this packet you’ll find a fun Halloween-themed activity for reviewing literary devices in the month of October.
“Trick-or-Treat: Sweet Tweets”: In this handout, students are asked to come up with ten tweets a candy company could write about its ten new types of candy, each featuring a different literary device within the tweet.
Tweet Boxes: If you’d like to extend the activity, let each student write their favorite tweet in one of these boxes (cut them out before class) and tape them up around the room. Then let other students walk around, each writing at least one comment on another tweet and “liking” at least three. Let students see which descriptions are most powerful with their peers.
