Cooperative groups or individual lesson on American trickster slave tales. Students read primary source slave tales printed in colonial style books and match the slave tales to a primary source picture.
Once all 5 trickster slave tales are matched with the correct pictures, cooperative groups complete the graphic organizer to determine if the trickster tale was meant to:
Trick the master
Make master appear ignorant
Make master appear evil
Students complete activity with explanation for their findings.
