Product Description
These pocket chart sorts are perfect for practicing beginning sounds en français! You can have students can choose 2, 3, or 4 letters at a time to sort.

Simply cut out the cards and laminate for durability. I like to store each letter in separate sandwich bags. I do this activity as a centre, so I make available just the letters I want my students to practice. Students place the circle cards in the pocket chart, mix up the picture cards, and put the pictures that begin with each letter below the correct letter.
I have also included a recording sheet where students can record two of the letters they sorted.

If you want to use this activity as an independent centre, there is also an “I Can” card included! “I Can” cards help foster student independence - they can follow the directions if they forget what to do. Just print, cut, and laminate if you would like to use it, and store it with your centre materials for this centre.

**Please note that a few letters are not included in this pack (W, X), and others have fewer than 6 images. Some letters just don’t have very many words that start with them! I also grouped Ee and Ée together. You can see a smaller version of all of the word cards I have included if you click on the preview. I also don’t usually to Ee or Hh with my maternelles as an independent centre, because they cannot identify the beginning letter based on what they HEAR - they have to memorize which words start with those letters in order to be successful. However, I have included them as options - it’s totally up to you - you know your students best!
