This worksheet introduces uses of the trigonometric addition formulas for sine and cosine. The student is asked to write the formulas for sin(A + B), sin(A - B), cos(A + B), and cos(A - B). Then, the student is asked to recall the relationships of the sides of the 45-45-90 and 30-60-90 special triangles. Finally, the student uses the formulas and the special triangles to examine several different uses of the addition formulas. No proofs are introduced on this worksheet.
This worksheet is appropriate for an Algebra 2/Trigonometry course or a Precalculus course.
