It is important that students in higher math classes commit certain concepts to memory. Games like this help them do just that, without resorting to boring flash cards or repetitious copy work.
Played like the game of “GO Fish,” this small group activity gives students an opportunity to review the six trigonometric functions and identify the equation, graph, domain, range and period of each.
They won’t even realize they are learning!
GOFish Trig includes 60 cards, 2 complete sets of five cards for each of the six trig functions:
There are also 4 blank cards that can be played as wild cards.
The goal is to get complete sets of five cards. The winner is the one that gets the most matched sets.
A chart that shows the matched sets is included as well as more ideas for how to use these cards.
Games in math class are always a +
Student engagement with the content increases
Students get excited about coming to class
Students share that enthusiasm
Games engage more of the class
Games allow for informal assessment
Games make you cool (just kidding about this one, you are already cool)
