This is a great hands on activity. Students will create their own reference chart for when theta terminates in each of the 4quadrants. The chart looks like a bow tie. Students are given the trig tie, directions, and the pieces that need to be identified on the worksheet. Students are to cut out the pieces and glue or write the pieces in the appropriate location of the "tie". In creating the Trig Ties, students will have to identify quadrants, sides of a triangle in each quadrant, reference angles in each quadrant, orientation of the triangles, and identify which function is positive in each quadrant. After the tie is completed, the students can decorate the triangles to look like a tie. This is a great visual tool that the students can keep as a reference. I use this activity in my trig class and the students love it. Works best with card-stock paper or the students can glue construction paper on the back for more support.
