Trino's Choice is a novel written by Diane Gonzales Bertrand. It is a story of a middle school boy who is growing up in a poverty stricken area of Texas. He has seen a crime, and he now must choose what to do with the information while also trying to help his family survive.
The novel is fast paced, and its reading level is accessible to students beginning at the fifth grade.
This product contains the reader's guide that I used in my classroom in a fully editable PowerPoint format. I would project the slides each day during read aloud time. Students were assigned characters, and their roles were projected on a slide. In addition, questions to generate discussion and thought are included in this presentation when the events in the chapter allow. Three comprehension quizzes are included for use during the novel as well as a final assessment. Answer keys for these assessments are also included.
This product could be used with an entire class, or students could use this product with a literature circle. A teacher's guide is included with possible answers to the discussion questions.
