Tropical "Times" Multiplication Fun is an "I Have Who Has" game with a HUGE bonus for beginners, an array on each card to help beginning multipliers. The pictorial representation builds the confidence of young students as they begin to understand the concept of multiplication as repeated addition through arrays. This beach-themed game focuses on the multiplication facts most students will know through repeated skip counting (1's, 2's, 5's, and 10's). Included is an identified START card, 42 multiplication game cards, a student response recording sheet, and an answer key.
This activity provides for differentiation in several ways. Students who struggle can be given an easier multiplication fact, whereas students that need to be challenged can be given a more difficult card with more items to count to verify their answer. Additionally, with 42 cards in the game, there is opportunity for students to have more than one card to keep them focused and challenged. The recording sheet I have enclosed is optional. To keep students engaged, each student would be given a copy of the recording sheet and would record each student's multiplication problem and answer as it was named.
An answer sheet is included to quickly identify correct and incorrect answers, in addition to making sure the students don't get off track. This can sometimes happen if students don't speak loud enough or clear enough for the other students to hear them. The answer sheet also provides a quick listening and skill assessment check when using the student recording sheet.
I hope you enjoy Tropical "Times" with your students as the weather warms and eager minds continue to grow. If you purchase this activity, please leave feedback. I am always interested in what fellow educators think of my activities for students. I teach second grade and this game was made for immediate classroom use with my own students. I hope you also find it very beneficial.
Thanks for checking out this activity and be sure to check out the other games, charts, and files I have created while you are here. I have a few FREEBIES, too :)
