I use these literature guides in my third grade classroom. I make a packet for each student. I read the story aloud and discuss/answer the questions as a class. We look over the questions and answers before the next day's reading. I cover the majority of the common core language arts standards (for fiction) with read alouds. We summarize each chapter together on the event timeline page. As your students become familiar with the format of the literature guides, they can complete them independently or with partners. I hope this is as useful to you and your students as it is to mine!
