Product Description
Trouble by Gary D. Schmidt, author of The Wednesday Wars and Okay for Now, is an excellent coming-of-age novel for intermediate grades (7-9). Tackling issues such as racism, socioeconomic prejudice, loss, and the weight of family expectations, it's easily the highlight of the year for my students.

This set of challenging literary analysis and discussion questions includes a mix of making predictions, interpreting tone and connotation, using context clues, making inferences/drawing conclusions, analyzing characterization, summarizing, and connecting text to self.

A basic literary response rubric is included; however, I am working on a more comprehensive answer key to be paired with the rubric. I will update this product when it is finished.
