True Grit is the fictional story of a fourteen-year-old girl in the 1870's who travels into Indian Territory with a U.S. Marshal and a Texas Ranger to avenge the murder of her father. The book is an adventure story as well as a comedy, painting a picture of the American West in the years after the Civil War. It will appeal to both boys and girls. True Grit contains some strong language.
