Engage your students with this fun learning experience that supports Common Core in your classroom. Students will love "digging up" addition and subtraction equations to determine whether or not the equal sign makes the fact true or false. This center can be used during normal math stations, in small groups, or for reinforcement purposes. Equations are of a variety of levels, making this activity perfect for differentiation by simply combining cards in groups that best meet the needs of your students.
It follows the First Grade Common Core standard:
Understand the meaning of the equal sign, and determine if equations involving addition and subtraction are true or false. For example, which of the following equations are true and which are false? 6 = 6, 7 = 8 - 1, 5 + 2 = 2 + 5, 4 + 1 = 5 + 2. However, this product could also easily be used for grades K-4.
Included in this center are:
*True and False Sorting Mats
*48 Sand Pail Fact Cards to practice addition, subtraction, and mixed equations
All you need to do is print, laminate, and cut!
Place the cards in a bucket of sand for extra enjoyment! :o)
