Identifying number sentences as true or false in first grade is a difficult concept. However, this is a great resource to help them practice! I created 6 monster-themed worksheets (3 addition and 3 subtraction) and a classroom sort. This aligns with the 1st Grade Common Core Standard: 1.OA.7 (Understand the meaning of the equal sign, and determine if equations involving subtraction and addition are true or false).
The 6 worksheets can be used for morning work, whole or small group practice, or as an informal assessment. They consist of coloring true and false number sentences certain colors, circling or putting X's on them, and cutting and pasting them into the correct columns. They are all in black and white to make printing and making copies really easy!
The classroom sort can be used in a whole or small group. There are 30 number sentences (15 addition and 15 subtraction), and 2 different True/False headings (black & white and in color). You can use this in a pocket chart and have students sort them into the correct column. If you laminate them, you can use this again and again!
