This activity is aligned to accompany the first 50 pages of the novel Tuesdays with Morrie. It can be modified and extended as you continue through the novel. The students must define different types of figurative language. Then, they will find the language examples within the novel and explain why the author would have used this type of language.
This activity was done with an inclusion class as a reinforcement activity within a mini-lesson on several types of figurative language.
