Tumblr is the latest rage. Basically it's a digital scrapbook. Users mix all types of media, including: quotes, video, audio, pictures, text and web links. Don't worry if you are not familiar, there is a brief explanation right on a pre-formatted template! This activity has students create a Tumblr page on paper for a book character or historical figure. This is a simple, fun and engaging without needing computers.
This assignment is Common Core writing aligned. Students create pictures, find and write quotes, complete a short video storyboard and draw favorite products based on what they have learned about a character or figure in class. They are required to support with quoted evidence from the text OR by what they have learned in class (the assignment has 3 template options based on teacher needs/resources). This assignment would work great for History, English Language Arts or Science.
