This lab activity aligns with 7.7C: demonstrate and illustrate forces that affect motion in everyday life such as emergence of seedlings, turgor pressure, and geotropism.
Students will use the following materials (per group):
They will bend the toothpicks and place them in the petri dish with the bends in the center so that they make an astric shape. Then use the pipette to drop water in the center. The toothpicks will react to the water similarly to how plants react to turgor pressure.
