Did you realize that turkeys come in many different shapes, sizes and flying abilities? What better way to have a little Thanksgiving fun than thinking about how and where different varieties might stay safe for the holiday?
In this engaging STEM activity you assign your students a turkey and challenge them to find an actual place outside your school where that particular bird could hideout using camouflage. They will then collaborate with their group to design and create a model of the hiding place.
This product includes:
- suggested literature to get your students excited about the task
- detailed background information
- planning criteria
- a design brief for students
- an evaluation tool
- teacher tips
- recommendations for materials and tools
All necessary materials are easy and inexpensive to acquire, or are already present in your classroom.
My students really enjoy this activity and I hope yours will too!
