Turkey Attribute Cards and Sorting Mat: A great way to mix up your math center for November as Thanksgiving approaches!
Prep the turkey pictures by either printing them in color on card-stock or having them laminated. Print the Turkey Sorting Mat and mount it on large paper or have it enlarged to larger paper, like 11x17. I suggest laminating the mat as well if you’re going to place this at a math center.
Have the students look at the turkeys and notice some of the ways, or attributes, that make them the same or different. Students should notice a difference in size, feather pattern, and whether or not they are hiding, are wearing a hat, or have corn to eat.
This is a great math center for practicing sorting and looking closely at different objects! It should generate some good math conversation as well—always a plus!
