Designed for children 3-5 years old with a need for structured learning tasks, my Turkey Feather Count File Folder Game is a tiered counting game for teaching matching numeral to number of objects.
In considering the unique learning behaviors of children with significant disabilities, I came up with what I think is a great way to structure learning to count. Each number is presented as a two piece puzzle. The left piece has a picture of a turkey with a number of feathers drawn on it. The right piece is the matching numeral. This folder is structured in that the right piece only fits the correct picture. To structure the activity even further, I have included a separate file where the puzzle pieces are also colored to help with matching. Children can start with matching by color and then you can fade to using the non colored pieces.
Includes: one page with the left pieces of the puzzle featuring turkeys with 1-10 feathers, one page with right pieces of the puzzle featuring numerals in a clean primary font, both pages repeated with color coding.
These counting tasks are perfect for use with many of my adapted books. My adapted books are created for use in pre-K, preschool, early childhood special education and child care classrooms. Each book is interactive and focuses on new vocabulary. To see my inventory of adapted books, click here
