This activity is one that can be used during the Thanksgiving holiday to show how the first thanksgiving food had to be hunted and not bought in the store. They had to find food to survive and this activity allows the students to pretend they are at the first thanksgiving hunting for food. They will use the following concepts and skills: sportsmanship, Hand-eye coordination, body control, speed, quickness, muscular endurance, agility, accuracy, teamwork, throwing, and precision. The teacher can modify the equipment and how the setup of the activity is done based on the students they teach. This can be done at any age level and the skills being used can always changed when doing the turkey hunt. They can be changed to kicking, rolling, etc. instead of doing the relay with throwing. Try this activity if you want to use it for thanksgiving or modify it for other holidays. IT can be used as a warm-up, cool-down, or the point of main focus for your lesson.
