Turkey math activity for the iPad! Use task cards and a free pattern block iPad® mobile digital device app for this Thanksgiving themed math activity.
Easily integrate this low prep iPad app activity into math centers, small or whole group instruction. A great way to review or introduce 2-D shapes, their properties, and names! Younger students can explore while those in 2nd and 3rd can use the 16 included task cards to practice Common Core standards about shapes.
Here is how it works:
Students will first use a free pattern block app to make their turkey tail. This can be free-form or as directed on the differentiated task cards. Next students scan the included QR code to download a turkey body. Students combine these in the app PicCollage™. Finally students use their turkey to tally the shapes used and make a bar graph.
Since students can make a different turkey each time, you can use this center more than once. Keep students engaged with the included challenge task cards too!
★ 6 student friendly step-by-step visual direction pages for completing the activity independently on two free apps.
★ 1 QR code that links to the "turkey body" image.
★ 1 tally chart printable for tallying the shapes used for the turkey.
★ 1 bar graph printable for making a bar graph of shapes used for the turkey.
★ 8 task cards that give a number of shapes to use with a picture of the shape.
★ 8 challenge task cards that give the name of the shapes to use with a word problem to figure out how many to use.
You will need the free apps Pic Collage™, Pattern Block Shapes, and a QR reader app. A clickable QR code for each app is included.
Since my products all utilize free web and app resources, there may be rare times that the technology does not work as planned, which may be out of my control. Please be sure to message me in the Q&A section so I can assist you before leaving feedback. I use all of the apps that I base my packets on frequently and will update products as the apps themselves update.
