This 135-page packet is so much more than a book companion. I plan on using it as training module. I work with approximately sixty speech/language pathologists. This week an SLP approached me with some questions. “My professional goal is to offer language support in a MTSS framework. I plan on starting with an English only Kdg. classroom rather than a dual language classroom but honestly, I don’t know what my role is. Do I plan a whole group lesson? Do I support the teacher with small groups? Should I teach the kids sentence starters? What is my role?” I’m not mentioning names, but if you find yourself in the same predicament, this packet is perfect for you.
This packet includes Tier 1 and Tier 2 interventions in three areas: Vocabulary, Listening Comprehension, and Language, through the use of paired texts; Turkey Trouble by Wendi Silvano and a non-fiction informational text called, All About Turkeys. The language component includes a focus on adjectives. There is a five day lesson plan included with detailed goals/activities for Tier 1/Tier 2 instruction. There are specific research-based instructions and verbal routine on how to teach vocabulary to ELL’s.
