This activity asks students to create multiple choice answer options for open response questions. I used it in my class with gridded response questions from standardized tests. The aim of this activity is to get students thinking about how multiple choice answers are created from common mistakes. It is intended to make them think twice before assuming their answer is correct just because it is an option. Also, students found that in doing this activity they couldn't get the "right" way of doing the problem out of their heads.
This is an editable word document, so you can change it to fit whatever problem set you want to use it for.
