This is a two-sided visual (ideally printed on thick paper, cut out and glued together or on regular paper w/ construction paper in between).
This is used to help special needs AAC users who - like many verbal special needs students - script or "stim" when we would like them to be listening. This visual helps clarify expectations about when it is appropriate to talk/explore or answer questions, and when it is expected that they are quiet and listening to the teacher, or their conversational partner. Teacher or aide needs to flip visual over as appropriate.
Some teachers and staff members prefer to have a written, structured protocol for how to address specific behaviors. Included is a typed explanation and specific protocol for how to implement the visual and address repetitive scripting or "stimming" behaviors.
