Turning Non-Fiction Articles into Poetry - Freshman
For this activity, students bring in an article that interests them.
Then, they take their article and transform it into a poem that is at least 10 lines long that includes the following poetic elements: allusion, simile, metaphor, alliteration, end rhyme, and internal rhyme.
Their end product is writing a summary of the article and the poem on construction paper. After I grade them, I display them around the room.
