This lesson was created as a "Get to Know Me" activity that can also help introduce new material once the school year starts rolling.
Turning Points of History will have students develop life maps and find an exact event in their lives that have made them into who they are. Once they have pinpointed which event shaped their lives, students will create an essay on how that event has shaped them.
This lesson can then be used to introduce new material in Social Studies like the Sand Creek Massacre, the French Revolution, or the Secession of the Southern States. Any event in history can be used as long as you have an accompanying text.
This lesson will teach students how to think historically and to evaluate events for all their worth!
