This project requires students to select one of 4 turning points of the American Revolution (Trenton, Saratoga, Valley Forge, or Yorktown), research it, explain what happened at the event and how it changed the outcome of the American Revolution (and history). Then, students revise the event in a realistic manner, rewriting history, and explaining how this change would have changed the outcome of history. Students then use Microsoft Publisher (or another program of your choosing), to create a textbook page explaining what "happened" in that event, according to their historical revisions, and what the historical consequences of that event were, as if their revisions were reality. This is a great, creative activity to help students refine their research skills. I use this for high-achieving and gifted students as a means of differentiating instruction.
