Academic Standard: SSUSH16 History of the Air Corps and the Resultant Organization That Preceded the Air Force
This lesson is a sequential Thinking Map of the battle engagements of the Tuskegee Airmen from the Chronology of the United States Air Force. Lesson plans are completely outlined for the teacher to present on overhead to students. Students are to use the required websites from which to retrieve their information and add at least 3 facts to the subject. This lesson covers geographical identification of war territories, important names and military events, visual identification of aircraft, citations, War Department announcements, the Sicilian Campaign, Purple Heart 'Awardees', and the WAC so honored for her service Students will research the attitudes of some Americans with regard to integrating the armed forces. Websites and video reference is provided for the teacher/ student.
