This is a precursor to the 100's chart used in the classroom. I noticed that the classroom at the school I worked at had a 100's chart that is hung in the classroom, but felt that the students could use something more colorful and interactive to work with.
This PowerPoint presentation can be used with the Smart Board Technology because I used hyperlinks and animations within it. Each screen has numbers light up, change color and/or animate when clicked or touched. There is an index to different screens. The first set mostly highlights the numbers as they are counted. A Teacher can have a student come up to the board and touch the board while counting with the class or the teacher can do it themselves. One set of screens on the index just deals with counting to twenty in the following different ways:
*Counting to twenty
*Counting to twenty and back to 1
*Counting to twenty by 2's
*Counting to twenty by 5's
The second set of screens on the index deal with adding. These screens are interactive and the teacher can actually have the students come up to the smart board to touch the correct answer. If they touch the wrong answer, an X will appear. If they touch the right answer a big happy face and the answer will bounce down onto the screen. The subjects for this area are:
*Adding by 1
*Adding by 2
*Adding by 3
*Adding by 4
*Adding by 5
*Adding by 10
I plan on creating a 50's chart and a 100's chart to follow this. It really is a fun way for the students to see the numbers and how they relate.
