Description

Who wrote it: the rock duo Twenty One Pilots or a famous poet? Your students will have so much fun trying to decide whether the quote is from a poem or lyrics from a Twenty One Pilots song! You can use the interactive bulletin board display OR the student handout and presentation as an anticipatory set to ignite excitement and appreciation for poetry and/or Shakespeare.

Poets included: Matthew Arnold, William Blake, Elizabeth Barrett Browning, William Cullen Bryant, George Gordon Lord Byron, Gerard Manley Hopkins, Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, Edgar Allan Poe, Alexander Pope, Christina Rossetti, William Shakespeare, Alfred Lord Tennyson, and William Wordsworth.

The zipped bundle includes a 32-page PDF for the interactive bulletin board (30 quote cards + two heading pages), a 2-page PDF student handout (30-question "quiz"), a 2-page teacher answer key, and a 90-slide presentation (PDF format - NOT editable). The presentation and the interactive bulletin board both include the answers with details about the poem or song that is quoted. *I have also included a paper-saver option for the bulletin board where you can print two-sided with two cards on one page.*

As a bonus, the handout includes a brief bio about the band AND a "Did You Know" fun fact.

It's a great way for your students to have a POSITIVE attitude about poetry, Shakespeare, and English class, in general. It also helps them see that the lines of poems are very much like song lyrics, which helps students to understand the meaning.

Please be patient while downloading as it is a very large zipped folder. If you have trouble unzipping it, re-download and wait several minutes before unzipping.
