Twinkle Little Star is part of a series of vest displays, many designed to complement existing Animated Step-by-Steps®. This resource uses Picture Communication Symbols (Tobii/Dynavox).
Vest Displays are a great way to add visual and symbol support to simple songs and stories used during Circle Time. A vest display is typically worn on a velcro-receptive apron or vest and has the advantage of simplifying joint attention by presenting communication content in line with the Facilitator’s face.
Twinkle Little Star is a relatively short and simple song, primarily designed for use with children who are cognitively young. The resource is printed on legal-sized paper and includes:
-the scene + extension
-symbol lines for the tiles
-a star manipulative that slides up a length of fishing line and spins
Another resource called Guidelines for Constructing Vest Displays is also available and provides more specific information on constructing vest displays.
