I use this activity after the students read Book Two, Chapter Three. They work in groups to create two separate Twitter profiles for Julia and create tweets that portray her duplicitous lifestyle and her loyal lifestyle. Together, they discuss the differences in her personality in the Party and with Winston.
Each group then chooses their favorite tweet for each profile, and the class votes on their favorites for our class Twitter profiles for Julia's personalities.
This activity requires the students to think critically, collaborate as a team, analyze a character, and use creativity.
