Students will make inferences about the characters, setting, plot, and vocabulary in the story using context clues, picture clues, and their background knowledge during shared reading or read aloud. Students will record their inferences and supporting evidence on the provided record sheet. After reading, students will extend their practice of inferring by creating an art scene of one of the settings, and the two ants. They will write their inferences about what the ants are thinking, feeling, or saying during the scene. As an extension activity, students may write an extended response about their scene.
