This lesson can be used as a follow-up lesson for students who have already planned a pantomime performance and are ready for more advanced work that involves either cooperation with a partner or for them to act out more than one role.
Students begin the lesson by analyzing “Le Petit Café Parisien” which can be found on YouTube. They are then given a performance planning sheet and a task card prompt to plan their own scene from.
Option 1: Students work with a partner to act out their scenes.
Option 2: Students act out both parts on their own, showing the distinct mannerisms and traits of each character.
Students will improve their non-verbal communication skills and learn how to adapt themselves to various roles.
1) Analysis of Marcel Marceau’s “Le Petit Café Parisien” (2 pages)
2) Pantomime Performance Planning Sheet for a Two Person Scene
3) Pantomime Pair Task Cards (6 pages)
