Add and subtract two-digit numbers while focusing on three main strategies: drawing tens and ones blocks, drawing a number line, and using expanded notation to work with tens and ones separately. You teach these strategies in class, but students need a little practice each day for many days to master them. Each homework page includes a little "Strategy" reminder box in the top left corner so students (and parents!) remember how they're to solve these problems.
This packet contains 32 student pages: 16 for addition and 16 for subtraction. For each operation, there are four pages per strategy (each with a "Strategy" reminder box), plus four pages that allow students to use their favorite strategy. Each student homework page has four problems for quick, consistent review and practice for weeks after you teach each strategy.
Idea: Copy each page back-to-back with a homework page from your current unit – money, measurement, time, etc. – for steady addition/subtraction practice even when you are teaching other concepts in class!
